The Unit of Measurement Here Is the Episode
Seasons are the wrong unit here, and that is the first thing to straighten out, because a short drama is not measured in seasons. The definition on the record is narrow, describing vertical 9:16 series made up of episodes of one to two minutes, usually 20 to 100 episodes per story. TheWrap draws an even tighter band around Western-made episodes, 60 to 100 seconds apiece. So it depends entirely on whether you mean one episode or the whole story. One episode runs shorter than most pop songs. A full series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. Each total run time in this piece is my own multiplication of a published episode watch Giving Birth and Getting Divorced count by that published episode-length range. A total run time is published by no app I checked, which means nobody can hand you one.
Episode Counts Stretch From 30 to 100
Episode length barely changes from title to title, but episode counts swing wildly. Twelve series checked against an official app page produce counts from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen is the short one at 30, just above the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. With 100, GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return is the long one, placed precisely on the ceiling. In between, ReelShort has The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. Married at First Sight is set down at 89 on its ReelShort movie page, while over on GoodShort, Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter shows 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out shows 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia shows 86. The twelve counts sum to 816 episodes, which is an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. Most short series sit in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions, which is the real finding here.
Why a Few Counts Need an Asterisk
Episode counts are slipperier than they appear, and whoever quotes one should say which page it came from. The official page for The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband says 60, while third-party listings for the same show give 49 and 120, neither of which belongs anywhere near a calculation. Married at First Sight shows the same problem inside a single site, where the movie page says 89 episodes and another page for the same series says 90. The one-episode gap is trivial for a viewer and fatal for anyone claiming precision. Two of the counts above, True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, are explicitly flagged as including the trailer, so the story proper runs one episode shorter in each case. I have left the published figure alone rather than quietly subtracting, because adjusting a number silently is how bad data spreads. Treat every count as a label attached to one page on one date, not a permanent property of the show.
The Sum, Stated Plainly
Here is the full method, so you can redo it or reject it. Take one minute an episode as the floor and two minutes an episode as the ceiling, apply them to the published count, and a range appears. 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours, is what a 60-episode series gives. For the 100-episode Dragon King’s Return it gives 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. If a show was made in the West, TheWrap’s 60-to-100-second band narrows things: those same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. Not one number here comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none allows for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. Two published numbers are all these estimates rest on, and I would rather show the working than fake a precision the sources do not support.
Twelve Documented Series, Timed

The table below applies that multiplication to every title above. The episode counts come from each show’s own app page; the run times are my own. Read every range as a floor and a ceiling, not a prediction, since real episodes land somewhere inside it. The platform column matters less than people assume, since the format definition is the same on both.
| Series title | App platform | Episode count | Estimated total run time (my calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen | GoodShort | 30 | 30 to 60 min |
| Not the Bride He Wanted | ReelShort | 57 | 57–114 min |
| The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband | ReelShort | 60 | 60 to 120 min |
| True Luna | ReelShort | 61 including trailer | 61–122 min |
| Love on the Sidelines | ReelShort | 64 | 64 to 128 min |
| Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter | GoodShort | 64 | 64 to 128 min |
| Three Strikes, Dad’s Out | GoodShort | 65 | 65 to 130 min |
| Fated to the Alpha | ReelShort | 70 | 70–140 min |
| Breaking the Ice | ReelShort | 70 including trailer | 70–140 min |
| Kidnapped by the Mafia | GoodShort | 86 | 86 to 172 min |
| Married at First Sight | ReelShort | 89 as the movie page has it | 89–178 min |
| The Dragon King’s Return | GoodShort | 100 | 100 to 200 min |
Two things stand out in that last column. Only one title in twelve could fill a single hour and stop, and only one could run past three hours. Everything else is a two-hour film’s worth of story handed over in sixty-odd pieces.
What Binging One Actually Takes
Pure run time is the easy part of the calculation and the misleading one. A 60-episode short drama at 60 to 120 minutes is a single evening, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. Stack the whole twelve-title table and you get 816 episodes, which by the same multiplication is roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. That total ignores everything between the episodes. The free opening episodes do not last long, after which every unlock is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, with ReelShort’s own blog saying one ad unlocks two premium episodes. Fifty paid episodes at that rate works out at twenty-five ads, and no company publishes how long those ads run, so I will not invent a number. Watch short dramas online at a steady pace and the real evening usually runs longer than the arithmetic says. If you would sooner buy your way past the interruptions, a weekly pass costs about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.
How Two Minutes Shapes the Script
Far from being just a stat, length here is the script’s structure. When an episode runs 60 to 100 seconds, the writer gets room for roughly one beat and one reversal, and the reversal has to land on the final shot. That is why the hook arrives before you have settled, and why cliffhangers feel relentless rather than occasional. TheWrap reports $150,000 to $300,000 per series and shoots of eight to ten days, so production is working to that same clock. A ten-day shoot that has to yield seventy of them leaves nobody room for leisurely scenes. The paywall shapes the writing as well, since the first eight to ten episodes are usually free, and ReelShort’s blog gives five to fifteen, which puts the first real decision point about ten minutes in. A betrayal, a reversal and a payoff all have to be seeded inside about the run time of one film in a 64-episode show such as Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter, chopped into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.
Choosing a Series by Its Length
Reading the numbers turns picking into something practical rather than guesswork. If you want a single sitting and a clean finish, look for counts in the thirties, as My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen demonstrates at 30 episodes. If you want something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot, and that is where most short dramas sit anyway. Near 100, expect more subplots and a bill that grows in step. Before you start, check the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing, because a gap between 49 and 120 for one title is exactly the error that ruins a plan. Then do the multiplication yourself, because it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. Do that and you know how long a short series will really hold you, which is the whole trick.
